• Traditional style tailored jackets, hacking jackets or new style jackets are to be worn whenever a competitor enters the arena.
• New style jackets must be fully zipped up during competitions. On a new style jacket up to three sponsor logos can appear on the right hand sleeve (but must be contained within a space of 14cm x 6cm) and one sponsor logo on the breast pocket (approximately 3cm x 4cm). The competitor’s full name may appear on the back of the jacket in upper and lower case letters  in either Cosmos light or Ariel but no larger than 4cm in height.
• Members of the Armed Forces or Police Force may wear their uniform during competitions.
• Dark Blue jackets with a red collar and white piping can only be worn by members of the British National Cup Team or Championship Team.
• At the Judge’s discretion, competitors may be allowed to compete without a jacket in hot weather.

Competitors must wear a long sleeved shirt (with white cuffs) or short sleeved shirt with a white collar, which must be properly fastened at all times. Ladies may wear shirts with high white collars without a stock. If the competitor is wearing a hacking jacket then a coloured stock or tie may be worn.

Riding Hats

Riding hats must be worn when mounted, this includes exercising, warming up or competing, and conform to the following standards;

• British - All PAS (1998 or 2011) 015, VG1 - Provided they are BSI Kitemarked
• European - VG1 - Provided they are BSI Kitemarked
• American - All SEI ASTM F1163 04a onwards and SNELL E2001 and SNELL E2016
• Australian and New Zealand - AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards.

Hats must be correctly fitted and the harnesses fastened at all times when mounted. Competitors are strongly recommended to have their hats checked regularly and to replace then if they are damaged or following a fall.

Body Protectors

Body protectors and air jackets are optional (but recommended).

Jewellery

It is strongly recommended that jewellery is removed as it can increase the risk of injury. Also long hair is secured accordingly.

Body Cameras

When mounted on the show ground you are not allowed to wear video recording/camera equipment anywhere on the horse or rider.

For all levels, breeches, jodphurs or riding tights are to be a plain white, pale yellow, beige, grey or fawn colour. Navy or black are not allowed.

• Spurs are optional and must be made from smooth metal or plastic, excessively severe designs are not to be worn.
• The end of the shank must be blunt and must point only towards the rear.
• Only one pair of spurs are to be worn, and are to be secured to the rider’s foot in the traditionally correct manner, with the curve of the neck of the spur directed downwards.
• The overall length of the spur must not exceed 4cm, measured from the back of the boot to the end of the spur.
• The following spurs are permitted: - Dummy, Rollerball, Impulse, Rowelled, hammerhead and Prince of Wales Spurs.
• If Rowelled spurs are to be worn, they must have smooth rowels, with a diameter of no less than 1cm and no greater than 2cm, with a minimum width of 1.8mm. The rowels must sit in the vertical plane; horizontal rowels are not allowed.
•  Spurs with roughened or cutting edges, serrated, with or without necks are not allowed.
• Junior competitors are not allowed to wear rowelled spurs or any spur with an overall length exceeding 2.5cm when measured from the back of the riders boot.
• Spurs must be used correctly and it is an offence under Rule 82.4 to misuse them. The competitor must also take into consideration what is deemed acceptable and take care not offend the public in line with Rule 82.1.

Traditional style riding boots are compulsory when mounted (even if you are not competing). Boots must black (either plain black or with mahogany or patent tops), brown (either plain brown or with patent tops), or navy (either plain navy or with mahogany or patent tops).

Traditional style leather jodhpur boots in plain black, brown or navy may be worn with plain black, brown or navy leather 'gaiters' cut in the traditional riding boot style. The colour of the boot and ‘gaiter’ must be the same.

Junior riders can wear traditional style leather jodhpur boots in plain black, brown or navy. Junior riders may also wear plain black, brown or navy half chaps with plain black, brown or navy blue jodhpur boots, respectively.
