‘Plant A Tree For The Jubilee’ Local Equestrian Centre Joins The Queen’s Green Canopy Initiative
In celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year, local equestrian centre Eland Lodge has planted four trees across the site, as part of the national Queen’s Green Canopy initiative.
Three fruit trees have been planted alongside Eland Lodge's "Queen's Platform," which was built for when Her Majesty visited Eland Lodge in 2017 and watched the cross-country course in action. A wonderful selection of apple, pear, and plum trees have been chosen with the plethora of wildlife in mind, providing a food source for all the animals that live on site.
An acer has also been planted over by the main arena, a popular spot for spectators to sit during the competition season. It will provide some welcome shade from the summer sun and be a focal point on the grass banks by the arena.
John Coupland, Managing Director at Eland Lodge, has always had a fascination with biology and a passion for protecting the natural environment: “Planting new trees that will provide a food source for many animals was a very important factor when we were choosing which trees to plant. With the Jubilee celebrations commencing this year as well, it was important for Eland Lodge to celebrate with something that gave back to the land, and The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative provided the perfect opportunity to do this.”
Eland Lodge will also be celebrating with a Jubilee branded show jump, which will be an exciting addition to their show jumping course.
