Which Ariat Riding Boots Are Best For Me?

We’re huge fans of Ariat riding boots at Eland Lodge. And because we want you to love them as much as we do, we’ve put together some helpful Q&A’s to help you find your perfect pair.

Let’s get started!

Q: What should I look for in a pair of Ariat riding boots?

A: All Ariat riding boots are designed with safety in mind. Whichever style of boots you choose, you’ll get:

  • A heel of around 1” to stop your feet from slipping through the stirrups.
  • An appropriate sole thickness that is dependent on the style of boot. For example, competition boots will have thin soles for a better feel in the stirrups.
  • Firm but comfortable ankle support and flexibility for joint movement.
  • Sturdy construction to help prevent bruising from trodden toes.

Advanced technical features are specific to each style of boot. We’ve listed some of our favourites below:

  • Ariat® 4LR® provides support and cushioning.
  • ATS® (Advanced Torque Stability) offers optimal stability.
  • Cobalt™ VX technology provides temperature management, advanced support and enhanced flexibility and fit.
  • Nitro™ technology delivers a lightweight combination of flexibility and engineered support that cushions and stabilises the foot.
  • Divino™ is a leather outsole with added durability.
  • Duratred™ is a flexible and durable outsole made from long-lasting rubber for maximum wear resistance.
  • Monaco™ is a leather outsole with a Duratred™ overlay combining a traditional look with durability.
  • Vortex™ is a lightweight outsole designed for athletic performance. Vortex™ outsoles have many technical features, including a Duratred™ outsole, a stable frame, and shock-shield technology.

Q: How to choose a pair of Ariat riding boots

A: Choosing your perfect pair of Ariat riding boots is partly down to personal choice and partly down to the requirements of your daily activity or equestrian discipline.

TOP TIP: Swot up on the footwear guidelines required by your discipline to avoid getting booted out, so to speak, of the show ring.

You’ll also need to consider gender, age, shape and build, seasonal requirements, and your level of experience. Beginners, for example, might not want to splash out on a top-of-the-range pair of riding boots in case they decide riding is not for them after all!

Q: Do Ariat riding boots come in different widths?

A: Most Ariat long boots come in slim, regular, and full calf widths. The Ariat Ladies Heritage Contour II Field Zip Long Boot also comes in a wide fitting. There’s a choice of short and medium boot lengths too.

Ariat short boots come in standard UK shoe sizes. See Ariat riding boots size guide.

TOP TIP: Ariat boots tend to be on the roomy side. So you might want to order a half-size smaller than your actual size.

Q: Are Ariat riding boots unisex?

A: Ariat makes riding boots for men, women and children. So everyone gets the best individual fit.

Q: What are the different types of Ariat long riding boots?

Field Boots & Dress Boots/Competition Boots

A: Ariat long riding boots or tall boots include field boots, dress boots and competition boots.

Favoured by show jumpers, event and hunt riders, field boots have a lace-up closure at the front of the ankle to provide greater flexibility.

Ariat competition boots or dress boots are popular with dressage riders but worn by riders in all disciplines. With a traditional appearance and full protection of the lower leg, competition boots usually come in black leather and have a higher cut on the outside.

Q: What are the different types of Ariat short riding boots?

A: The Ariat short boot range includes traditional styled Jodhpur boots made from premium leather and a sporty alternative riding shoe for longer distances.

Ariat Jodhpur boots (also known as paddock boots) and riding shoes are designed for everyday activities. They come with a hard- wearing rubber or composite material sole to stand up to yard duties as well as riding.

Short boots or ankle boots are cooler in the summer months and are a practical option for riders who want grip and flexibility over distance.

Q: What are your bestselling Ariat riding boots?

A: This is a question we get asked a lot! Please visit our blog aptly named Best selling Ariat Riding Boots at Eland Lodge.

Q: Which Ariat riding boots are best for children?

A: For the little ones, Ariat Jodhpur boots are a great place to start. They can be comfier and cooler to wear compared to long boots, although children may need some lower leg protection in the form of half chaps or gaiters.

As children get older and more competitive, they move on to longer length riding boots for that extra bit of support and elegance.

Q: Can the Eland Lodge team help me choose a pair of riding boots?

A: Absolutely — If you want some advice on Ariat riding boots, the team at Eland Lodge Equestrian can help. Pop in, and ask an expert or give us a call.
